Chateau d'If

After many requests and prayers that the weather would be appropriate, we finally went to Chateau d'If!Here are some pictures :)

Notre Dame de la Garde

From the train/bus station of Marseille one of the first things I saw was the big church like building. It was beautiful from where I saw it, and was excited to finally get to see this building up close.

However, I didn't realize that going there meant a journey up a slope that was pretty much like a wall. The walk was very long, hard and did I mention hard?

Doesn't seem that steep, but it was really steep. Our journey up the steep hill.
ALMOST THERE

When we finally arrived at the top and looked back, there was a panoramic view of Marseille and the beach. I (kind of dind't) forget about the pain of coming up and enjoyed the beautiful view of Marseille.

Panoramic View II

After viewing the beautiful Notre Dame de la Garde and the panoramic view of Marseille, we went downstairs a bit and waited for a traditional meal.

The meal consisted of white fish, vegetables, eggs and a special sauce.

We waited for the sun to set, and then we headed back down.

Arles

On July 10th, we went to Arles for a Photography Festival. This is a very famous festival, and many people from all over the world come to see the great photographies presented.
There were very intersting ones, and ones that made me laugh, ponder a bit or inspire me to try some of these things.

Arles

We also got to walk around Arles, and Arles is a beautiful city. The European architecture was so beautiful. The shatters seemed to match the doors, and everything about the towns seemed 'French'.

Cooking Groups

Cooking groups are groups of people who cook dinner together. The ingredients and the recipies are given and it is up to the groups to make them, and enjoy a nice dinner together.
For me, this was a very bonding moment. I became closer with the people in my group, and I learned that I'm not a bad cook.
The first couple of times, the groups strictly followed the recipes, but later, the groups improvised, and even though sometimes it wasn't succesful, it was still fun.

Street Markets

Pretty much everyday of the week, there is a marche in Aix-en Provence. Everyday seems to have a special theme, such as clothes, jewelry or special souvenirs (honey, lavendar). The price is pretty good, and it is always nice to walk around the markets and always end up finding some interesting things.
On Saturdays, there is a big market, which seems to be a combination of all the markets that opened that week. This is a huge market, with lots of people, and many things to buy!

The markets are a great place to look for souvenirs, spend time, practice a bit of French and just enjoy the French culture.
